platteville's BAJA team
UW-Platteville’s Baja SAE team is a group of students that design, build, and race a small off-road vehicle. The SAE Baja Series was created with the premise of designing a prototype single person off-road vehicle that could be used as a new product within the power sports industry. Members of the team spend the summer and most of the school year designing parts to optimize the performance of the vehicle. The team uses practices learned in the classroom to create the designs and compute the strength of the parts, along with composing design reports, cost reports, and sales presentations for the car. The Baja team has been pushing its design and fabrication to the limits and is eager to attend the international competition to see how the new car stacks up against the tough opponents from around the country and the world.
BAJA sae design series
Baja SAE® consists of competitions that simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Engineering students are tasked to design and build an off-road vehicle that will survive the severe punishment of rough terrain. Each team's goal is to design and build a single-seat, all-terrain, sporting vehicle whose structure contains the driver. The vehicle is to be a prototype for a reliable, maintainable, ergonomic, and economic production vehicle which serves a recreational user market. For more information on the competition please visit the BAJA SAE Design Series.
